Audit Service Sierra Leone (ASSL) held a one-day stakeholders’ workshop to take a holistic look at the activities of the ASSL in the past year and review its status and direction. The workshop was held at Taia Resort Hotel in Freetown on the 18th May 2011.
The workshop objective was also to assess stakeholders’ perception of the role of the ASSL in exercising its external oversight function of governance and accountability.
The Acting Auditor-General, Mrs Lara Taylor-Pearce, stated that it is necessary for an organisation to take stock of its activities on a daily basis and get the views of its stakeholders in a bid to “identify what has been done well, where there is need for improvement and what support is available”.
She informed the participants that the workshop would enable stakeholders to give their views on the operations of the Audit Service relating to its constitutional mandate of having an oversight role, in a bid to fight corruption, and ensuring through its work an effective service delivery to the populace.
