Freetown, Sierra Leone. April 11, 2012. The Auditor General for Sierra Leone wishes to inform the general public that her Performance Audit Report on the Distribution of Agricultural Inputs in Sierra Leone has been submitted and tabled in Parliament.Section 119(2) of the 1991 Constitution empowers the Auditor General to audit the Public Accounts of Sierra Leone and all public offices, including the courts, the accounts of the central and local government administrations, of the universities and public institutions of like nature, any statutory corporation, company or other body or organization established by an Act of Parliament or statutory instrument or otherwise setup partly or wholly out of Public Funds.As the Supreme Audit Institution, Audit Service Sierra Leone (ASSL) is set on expanding the scope of external audit. In addition to the traditional role in Regularity Audit, ASSL has established Performance Auditing as one of the services that will inspect the economy, efficiency and effectiveness with which institutions use resources in carrying out their responsibilities.In line with the Auditor General’s mandate, ASSL has undertaken this Performance Audit on the Distribution of Agricultural inputs by the Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Food Security to highlight its key role in ensuring that food security targets are achieved.The full report can be found on the Audit Service Sierra Leone website www.auditservice.gov.sl or at the Audit Service Sierra Leone Headquarters at Lotto Building, Tower Hill, Freetown.
